The department of English is one of the major and active departments in the college. The Dept. of English was established in 1993. The first head of the department was Miss Shubhangi Vaman Halkunde assisted by Mr. Kailas Pandharinath Patil. Principal K.V.Zambre flourished the department during 1994-96, as head of the department. In 1996, Mr.G.S.Chavan became the head of the department assisted by Mr.N.D.Waghchoure. Mr.A.P. Patil was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the year 1997. The P.G. Section wasstarted in the year 2007; in 2008 Prof. Miss.SunitaWaniwas appointed as an Assistant Professor, in 2009Mr. N. N. Zope, Miss. S.B. Sali, Mr. Sunil Surwade, in June 2010,Mr.Amol V. Patil and Mr. V. D. Joshi were appointed as Asst. Professors. From the year 2010 Mr. A. P. Patil is successfully leading the Department as H.O.D. The department of the English offersU.G. and P.G. programs for students Prescribed by N.M.U.

The students coming to the department are mainly from the rural and hilly area, the first generation learners with vernacular medium of learning. The department has sufficient infrastructure and teaching material-Aids and the following facilities along with the various activities and efforts taken by the faculty, to create Learner centred atmosphere in the department of English for students.


  • Language Laboratory:- From the year 2010, the Department of English facilitates the students with a well-equipped Language Laboratory. The Language Laboratory has well-built infrastructure and furniture necessary for the Lab. It has 12+1 Desktops loaded with important programmes, softwares and internet for the students.
  • Book Bank:- The Department of English has developed its own library. Near about 200 books are available for the students. Every year the students opting for Special English can avail the services by paying a small amount of fees.
  • Educational Software:- Language Laboratory has a standard Educational Software- L21 (Linguaphone). The students admitted to the U.G. / P.G. and Functional English Courses can avail the service.
  • Educational Aids:- The Department of English has facilitated the students with a Projector, Audio-video clips, video lectures and other educational aids to teach, stir and develop the interest of the students in English language and literature.
  • Internet Facility:- The Department of English provides Internet Facility to the students to cope with the advanced world. The students can make use of the internet for following the important topics and aspects available in the educational sites.
  • Bridge/Remedial Coaching:- The Department of English arranges a special coaching for the students who are relegated in education. Special lectures are arranged in the department for them. After the completion of the course, they are examined with a process already set for such students.
  • The Department of English arranged an ‘Introductory Lecture on the Importance of English’ on 1st July 2015, Wednesday.
  • The Students of TYBA Eng And MA II Eng arranged a ‘Wel Come ‘Function for the newly admitted students (FYBA and MA I) on 6th July at New Muktai Temple, Muktainagar.
  • The Department of English arranged a workshop for the students of FYBA on ‘English Grammar and Composition’ on 12th Aug. 2015, Wednesday.
  • The Department of English celebrated ‘Teachers Day’ on 5th Sep. 2015in the Department of English.
  • The Department of English arranged a workshop for the students of F.Y.B.Com on ‘Group Discussion’ on 1st Oct 2015, Thursday.
  • Arranged a guest lecture of Dr. P. S. Premsagar on ‘History of Russian Revolution’ on 4th Jan 2016, Monday.
  • The Department of English arranged a Trip at ‘Ajintha’ on 19th Jan 2016.
  • Organised a guest lecture of Prof. G. S. Chavhan on ‘Communism’ on 1st Feb 2016
  • Seminars:- The Department of English arranges Seminars for the students of U.G. and P. G. every year.
  • Workshops:- Workshops are arranged every year in the Department of English on the Topics like- Spoken English, Writing Skills, Rapid Reading, Language learning, My reading of a poem/ novel/ drama etc.
  • Students’ Club:- The Students of Special English have formed a Club (Association) in the Department. The Club is named as ELLLA- English Language and Literature Learners Association to enhance the competency in English.
  • Trip/ PicnicThe department arranges picnics/ trips for the students of the department.
  • Poetry Recitation / Performing a Character Competition: The competition is arranged to promote the reading habit of the students as well to boost them with confidence.
  • Success ratio of final year students: 69.23%
    Other: Students have ranked the university merit list.

  • Vhora Kaur Harveen (M.A. English) stood first (Gold Medalist) in the North Maharashtra Univeristy Jalgaon in the year 2014-15.
