IFoS is an annual examination to recruit candidates into the prestigious Indian Forest Service, which plays a crucial role in managing and conserving the country’s forests and natural resources. According to the UPSC Notification 2025, candidates who aspire for the IFoS exam need to start by appearing for the UPSC CSE Prelims 2025 on 25th May 2025, after which those who clear it will qualify to appear for the IFoS Mains Examination. Subsequently, they will have to undergo an interview process. The UPSC IFoS Application Process 2025 is live since 22nd January 2025 and goes up to 18th February 2025 until 6:00 PM.

To be eligible for the UPSC IFoS Exam 2025, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or Agriculture from a recognized university. The selection process consists of three stages: Preliminary Exam, Mains Exam, and Personality Test (Interview). The Prelims consists of two objective papers (General Studies and CSAT), while the Mains includes six descriptive papers focusing on forestry, environment, and related subjects. The final merit list is prepared based on the candidate’s performance in the Mains and Interview rounds. Selected candidates undergo rigorous training before joining the Indian Forest Service (IFoS), where they serve in key environmental and forestry management roles across the country.
